Commenting ahead of the ministerial statement on CAP payments, with farmers still waiting on £40 million of payments nine months into the year, Scottish Labour spokesperson for Rural Affairs and Connectivity Rhoda Grant said:
“Nine months on and farmers are still waiting for £40 million in CAP payments according to NFU Scotland figures.
"This has been an absolute mess form start to finish from the SNP Government in Edinburgh.
“The SNP Government’s failure to administer these payments properly, despite knowing about changes to the system years in advance, is having a devastating impact on many farmers’ livelihoods.
“SNP minister Fergus Ewing must take responsibility and outline a clear plan to resolve this mess and ensure there is no repeat in the years to come – the livelihood of too many rural communities depend upon it."
