Plea to Save North Argyll Young Carers Group
Rhoda Grant, Highlands and Islands regional Labour MSP, is calling on Argyll and Bute Council to step in to save the future of an Oban based group supporting young carers in the community.
The North Argyll Young Carers group offers information, advice and support to young people under the age of 18 who find themselves caring for a family member.
They set up youth cafes, forums, trips and residentials for the young people.
"The group have been managed by the charity Quarriers, who have been covering a deficit to allow them to run their activities.
"However, this is no longer possible and the group are in danger if funding can not be found," said Mrs Grant.
"I have seen for myself the work this group carries out and it is a lifeline to young people already in a difficult position.
" I have written to the Council to appeal for its help in saving the group."
