Visit to Mid Argyll Hospital

26 July 2010

Highlands and Islands Labour MSP Rhoda Grant has called for more support for disabled people and their carers following a visit to Mid Argyll Hospital.

She said: "I was very pleased to bring my colleague Jackie Baillie, Labour's Health Spokesperson, to Mid Argyll hospital.

"Rural health is an issue that is of particular interest to me and I was glad that Jackie and I saw and heard at first hand the excellent developments being made in the hospital.

"I was also very interested to meet a carer who told us of the problems of gaining adequate support and respite in the area.

"There are particular challenges of meeting needs in rural areas.

"However, I believe that these can be met.

"It is therefore disappointing that it appears there is some way to go in supporting disabled people and their carers.

"I will be pursing this issue with the Council".
