Rhoda has given her support to the following members' motions

Celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight from 27 February to 12 March 2017

That the Parliament notes that Fairtrade Fortnight 2017 will take place from 27 February to 12 March and will have the theme, It’s time to put Fairtrade in your break; understands that Fairtrade Fortnight will be celebrated in the South Scotland region and across the country with events being held to illustrate how millions of farmers and workers in developing countries are not paid what they deserve and to encourage people to learn more about fair trade; commends everyone in Scotland who has expressed their commitment to fair trade and who will be holding events, and congratulates the Scottish Fair Trade Forum on its leadership in supporting the continued status of Scotland as a Fair Trade Nation.

 

Triggers for Loneliness

That the Parliament notes the growing interest in dealing with the problem of loneliness, including in areas of the Highlands and Islands; notes the launch of the Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness; welcomes the publication of Trapped in a bubble: An Investigation into the Triggers for Loneliness in the UK by the British Red Cross and the Co-operative Group; notes the biological, psychological and behavioural impacts of loneliness; believes that the problem of loneliness requires a society-wide response, and notes the calls on the Scottish Government and others to take action on this issue
