Rhoda ensures Inverness 'city linking' with Ullapool

12 April 2017

Highlands and Islands Labour MSP, Rhoda Grant, has again contacted Citylink and Calmac regarding the ongoing issues suffered by passengers travelling between Stornoway and Ullapool and those requiring access to the vital bus link onwards to Inverness.
As part of her ongoing work on this initiative Mrs Grant has already had an initial meeting with Peter Knight, Operations Director of Citylink, and is following this up with a further meeting with both organisations.

This follows many reports of passengers being unable to get on the buses and becoming stranded in Inverness and Ullapool.
The MSP said ,

“This situation has led to a number of people becoming stranded or having to book more expensive forms of travel.

“I was made aware of difficulties still being experienced a week ago and contacted Citylink immediately who responded by adding additional buses.

“I am happy to confirm following similar contact with Citylink today they have agreed to add the following services to the timetable for the coming busy days.”

Mrs Grant added “Again I would like to thank Citylink for their response in this matter as we work towards a permanent workable solution.”

Peter Knight of Citylink again said “We have put the following additional seats onto the system today (all additional 49 seaters) -

12/04 - 0950 Ullapool to Inverness and 1500 Inverness to Ullapool

13/04 - 1500 Inverness to Ullapool

14/04 - 0950 Ullapool to Inverness and 1500 Inverness to Ullapool

15/04 - 0950 Ullapool to Inverness and 1640  Inverness to Ullapool

16/04 - 1540  Inverness to Ullapool and 1720 Ullapool to Inverness

17/04 - All services will have additional capacity

Mr Knight continued,

“Today I have again personally had a look at the booking system and this keeps everything open and bookable for these days at the moment.

“I would also point out that some departures will have three vehicles on them as a result of this latest intervention.”
