Thank you for your email drawing my attention to the Both Lives pledge.
Scottish Labour do not support changes to current abortion laws in Scotland. In our women’s manifesto from the recent Scottish Parliamentary election, we committed to “ensure that women have access to the full range of reproductive services, protecting their right to a safe, legal abortion, and designating buffer zones around clinics to protect women’s privacy”.
The pledge rightly highlights the importance of tackling pregnancy and maternity discrimination in the workplace. Scottish Labour is committed to addressing the gender pay gap and protecting women’s working conditions through flexible working agreements, negotiations on parental or carer leave, and temporary or permanent adjustments. We will continue to work with established networks of women in different sectors and industries to best understand their needs.
