Scottish universities and adoption of the IHRA definition of antisemitism

Dear constituent

Thank you for your email regarding Scottish universities and adoption of the IHRA definition of antisemitism, and for raising this important issue with me.

The Labour Party, Scottish Labour, and all our elected members, stand firmly against antisemitism and racism in any and all forms it may take. We as a Party adopted the IHRA definition and examples in 2018 and strongly believe that all public bodies and institutions should do the same.

I understand the issues you set out within your email and your thoughts on the potential reasons behind why such a clear divergence may exist between institutions in Scotland and England.

Through our Education spokespeople in Holyrood, we have submitted a Parliamentary Question to the Minister regarding what the Scottish Government is doing to promote adoption of the definition.

With kind regards,

Rhoda Grant
