Vaccinating children aged five to 11

Dear constituent

Guidance from the JCVI has now been published. Scottish Labour welcome the decision to offer the COVID-19 vaccination to children aged 5 to 11. This has been accepted by the Welsh, Scottish and UK Governments.

It is critical, however, that the decision to vaccinate a child remains with parents and guardians.

The Scottish Government must outline how they propose to rollout the vaccine to this age group and when they expect every child to have been offered a jab.

It is also important to remember that there remains a sizeable proportion of the population who are yet to receive either their first, second or booster jab and we should continue to encourage uptake.

Scottish Labour have set out a comprehensive strategy for living well with Covid, and it is clear that getting vaccinated and regular testing is vital going forward.

Regards and Best Wishes
